Are processors used in gaming?

games do use processor power but they use video card processor more than the actual computer processor. your videocard is basically another processor and some ram dedicated ONLY to video. a 9 series is a pretty good card.. as for your processor it is pretty bad... pentium d is not a very efficient processor. a core 2 duo @ 2.2ghz would be much faster than a pentium D @ 3.4ghz. so you probably should get a better processor but first make sure your mother board can use the processor you want. i would go with a core 2 duo or quad.
