Does Elodea have vascular tissue?

I know that Elodea is a aquatic plant so that vascular tissue is not essential since water is able to transport pretty readily through the small cellular layers it has. I've been trying to do cuts and stain them with HCL and phloroglucenal but cannot find any under a microscope. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that i'm staining for lignified walls in which elodea doesnt need to lignify the walls or if there is no vascular tissue?? HELP
