What is the most horrifying thing you'd ever witnessed?
Last year, I worked as a dishwasher at an Italian restaurant. I live, in Central Texas, halfway between Austin and San Antonio. This was the night Hurricane Ike made landfall. There were patrons galore, and we were understaffed. Suddenly, I heard this prolonged bloodcurdling scream resembling that of Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween. As I turned around, I noticed, Amanda, one of the cooks caught herself afire. Apparently, the flame from the burner backdrafted, and grease splashed all over her apron causing her to ignite like a Roman candle. I grabbed the pressure nozzle and hosed her off. After that, her skin started bubbling and peeling as Amanda smoked and steamed like roasted chicken from the oven. The kitchen supervisor called 9-1-1, and I stayed with Amanda the whole time because I worried she might go into shock. I quit that job the next day, and heard she had second-degree burns on her body. She committed suicide not long ago. I still have nightmares of her flaming like the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four and bawling her eyes out the whole time. What was the most horrifying you'd ever witnessed?
